Since ancient times Thai people have been using bodies of water not only for recreation but also as a transport system, place for trade and for living. They used to build big floating villages. Today floating villages have become tourist centers where the Thais demonstrate their traditions and the past way of life. Here boats loaded with fruits and souvenirs move animatedly along the narrow canals. Some sellers cook Thai traditional dishes right on board and sell them from the boats.

Bangkok River Cruise

‌ ‌

Damnoen Saduak is the biggest and the most popular floating market, situated 100 km away from Bangkok, in Ratchaburi Province. The boat trip along the narrow canals of Damnoen Saduak will immerse you into the unusual atmosphere of the floating market. You will smell the Thai food from every direction and you will be lost in the great choice of souvenirs. During the rush-hours the traffic is very busy here and you get surprised at how easily the Thais maneuver with their boats.

Bangkok is situated at the bank of the powerful Chao Phraya river. River tram is a fast way to get from one place to another. There are no traffic jams and busy traffic. Many Bangkok sights are located at the river banks, so you will be able to see them during the River tour.

The main and the most famous landmark is Grand Palace. From the riverside you can see its bright roofs and unusual ornaments. Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, is also well observed from the Chao Phraya river. It is situated at the western bank of the river. This is an important religious place for all Buddhists and as well as Grand Palace the symbol of the city.

For your river tour you can choose a luxury boat, a so called cruise ship Wan Fah with all the conveniences, or an exotic rice barge Loy Nava where you will have dinner and see a Thai show. You can also choose the simplest means of transport - a river tram. It will take you from one bank to another and this way you will see non-tourist Old Bangkok. There are no skyscrapers, only narrow streets, and houses of ordinary people and, of course, temples.

You can enjoy the most beautiful views of the city at sunset and at night time when Bangkok shines with colorful lights.

The route of sightseeing river tours lies through the most picturesque canals - Mon Canal, Bankungsri canal, Chak Pra Canal, Bangkok Noi Canal.

A night river tour is usually combined with dinner and a dancing show. The lights of the night city, warm soft breeze, nice music and a beautiful tasty dinner - can you make better plans for an evening?

Bangkok is an inland city but you can make your holiday more exciting by going on a cruise along the Chao Phraya river.
